Banana Chocolate Walnut Granola Bars via Dirty Gourmet

Cooking on backpacking trips has usually been pretty basic. After a fresh lunch on the first day, I’m left with an assortment of dehydrated foods and pre-packaged pasta mixes.

For my trip next week to the French Alps, I’m going to do a little prep and think about my meals and how to make them exciting. This is particularly important for hiking with those who are used to holidays consisting of gourmet restaurants.

Sites such as Dirty Gourmet, Wild Backpacker, and One Pan Wonders are a great source of inspiration for easily packable, long shelf-life out of the fridge, and light weight meals.

This coconut curry soup sounds really promising, especially for the likely cool fall evenings in the mountains.
